Let the Holidays Shine at Your New Barefoot
Cooler weather is upon us and the holidays are fast approaching. Before you can say Bah Humbug, Thanksgiving dinners will be served and all the little ones will have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads.
At Barefoot Landing we kick off the holiday season with our annual Lighting of the Landing on Saturday, November 17th. This festive event will feature a petting zoo, bounce houses and holiday stilt walkers starting at 4 pm, then at 6 pm the stage comes alive with host Ed Piotrowski from WPDE welcoming performances by Alabama Theatre, Risen Christ Christian Academy and other local groups. The most famous jolly ole elf himself makes his debut at the end of the show to light the tree and then you'll want to look to the sky for the fireworks spectacular around 7 pm. And after the lighting, Santa looks forward to visiting with all the good girls and boys and hearing what they'd like for Christmas until 8 pm.
The holiday festivities continue through the season each Friday and Saturday at Barefoot Landing after Thanksgiving with fun activities for the whole family starting on Friday, November 23rd and running through Saturday, December 15th. Face painting, inflatables, holiday stilt walkers and more can be found in Dockside Village every Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm with fireworks to wind down the evening at 8 pm. Then on Saturdays, the merriment will continue with Santa as he comes through for more visits from noon to 4 plus bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo and holiday stilt walkers will be on hand to keep the seasonal spirit in the air.
Bring the whole family and a blanket or lawn chairs for free showings of holiday movies at 6 pm on Saturday, November 24th for "Polar Express", Saturday, December 8th for "A Christmas Story" and finally on Saturday, December 15th for "The Santa Clause".
Don't forget to make your list so that you can get your shopping in while you're here. Make a day of it to shop, eat, visit with Santa, enjoy the activities and then watch the fireworks or catch a movie. Exciting things are happening, so let the holidays shine this season at Barefoot Landing!
