Announcing Barefoot Landing’s Build Your Own Boat Race Returns with “Paddle for the Pets” Waterway Extravaganza

Barefoot Landing is hosting a new event with an old twist. On Saturday, April 5, 2014 they invite you to join them for the "Paddle for the Pets" Waterway Extravaganza to benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.

This all day festival starts at noon on the Waterway Road at Barefoot Landing with food, entertainment, kids' activities and boat building! Teams of four to eight people will start at 9:00 a.m. to build their own boats of various materials to be raced on the Intracoastal Waterway later in the day. Wander around and check out their skills and strategies, while eating and having fun with the many activities that will be taking place throughout the day.

Restaurants including Greg Norman's, TBonz, Smokin' Hot Grill & BBQ, River City Café and Flying Fish will offer their specialties on their decks to include oysters, burgers, ribs and more during the Food and Pub Crawl. Live entertainment will be stationed along the Waterway Road and you'll be able to get involved with Corn Hole, a petting zoo, kids' games, a dunking booth, boat parade and even a Furry Fashion Show featuring many of the homeless dogs at the shelter in North Myrtle Beach. An awards ceremony and after party with live entertainment and more food and drink specials takes place at House of Blues.

Door prizes will be awarded for those who participate and the big event – the Build Your Own Boat Race starts at approximately 3:00 p.m. Vendor applications as well as sponsors and Build Your Own Boat teams are currently being accepted. So put April 5th on your calendar from 12:00 to 6:30 p.m. on the Waterway and House of Blues to follow. Collect the whole family, including the furry ones, and make a date to join us at the first "Paddle for the Pets" Waterway Extravaganza to benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
