Fast or Feast? At Barefoot Landing, It's All About the Feast on Mardi Gras!

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday, takes place on Tuesday, February 28th and is part of a celebration in which rich, fatty foods are eaten for the last time before the fasting of the Lenten season. Although Mardi Gras is observed in different ways and in different places all over the world, we at Barefoot Landing like to start our celebration with the annual Dick's Last Resort Mardi Gras Parade.

The parade starts at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 28th and will run from Greg Norman's to Dick's Last Resort. The parade route will follow Waterway Road up by Flying Fish before taking a right along the interior road past The Mole Hole, Beach House, Johnny Rockets and Wild Wing Café. Local businesses, non-profit organizations and other venues come to participate in the merriment with jesters, masqueraders and other interesting characters throwing beads and candy to anxious spectators.
After the gala of the parade, those who would like to continue the festivities can choose from many different options including a grand party at the host restaurant, Dick's Last Resort, where revelers can enjoy discounted appetizers, drinks and other specialties. Pale Horse will play music to get everyone ready to party and don't forget that prizes will be awarded for the best and worst floats!

House of Blues will be celebrating with a Fat Tuesday party which includes live music and anyone that orders a Mardi Gras special food item will receive a free order of King Cupcakes for a chance to win prizes. At Wild Wing Café listen to live music from Chocolate Chip and take advantage of great drink specials. While over at Castano's there will be traditional New Orleans jazz by saxophonist Don Colton and food and drink specials in the lounge. Reservations can be made before 5 pm that day. And don't forget, if you're out and about earlier in the day to stop by Tbonz for a lunch deal of Bourbon Street Pasta and special drink pricing on their very own version of the hurricane and frozen mango octane drinks.
So if you're ready for some fun, wear your masks and beads or come as you are! Barefoot Landing, the home of Mardi Gras fun and Dick's Last Resort Annual Mardi Gras Parade.
