Barefoot Landing Looking for Mascot Best Friend
Barefoot Landing's mascot, Johnny B. Barefoot, is looking for a new best friend. Over the cold winter months some of his friends have left the area and he would love to have someone to hang out with in the summer months.
Johnny's new best friend must be energetic, happy, love to dance and have fun. Even though he doesn't need to pay people to be his friend, the person who acts the most like Johnny (the one who will wear his outfit) will be paid as well as the person who is selected to hang out and watch over Johnny.
To apply to be one of Johnny's best friends, please come to the Barefoot Landing office, located above Black Market Minerals between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Annual Spring Food Drive Begins
On March 1, 2010 Barefoot Landing will start its Annual Spring Food Drive to benefit the North Strand Helping Hand.
The North Strand Helping Hand is an emergency aid organization which responds to families and individuals in need in the Northern portion of Horry County. Their primary mission is to provide emergency food, clothing and financial assistance for basic needs such as utility bills, rent and transportation.
Although the food drive starts on March 1, it will continue through the "Taste of the Coast" event on March 20. This event, which also beneifts the Risen Christ Lutheran School, asks that patrons bring one canned item as an admission fee to the event. "A Night Out at Barefoot", which is a Progressive Dinner event to be held April 15 will be the final event to help the food drive. Participants are asked to pay a $5.00 fee to participate in the evening's activities. That $5.00 will go to the North Strand Helping Hand.
Margaret Owens, the Director of the North Strand Helping Hand said, "At North Strand Helping Hand, we take great pride in the fact that all clients are screened for need and double checked for duplication. We strive to help only those with true needs. Barefoot Landing has been extremely generous in supporting our mission in the past, and future support is greatly appreciated. We are excited to be a part of the "Taste of the Coast" and "A Night Out at Barefoot" and look forward to workiing with Barefoot Landing to help to make our community a better place for those in the most need."
Food donations can be dropped off at the Welcome Center, Julie's Boutique and the Barefoot Landing offices. For more information call 843-272-8349.
